The ZSE slide extended into the post-election period in the wake of violent demonstrations that rocked the capital, Harare, as results of the elections were being published. The elections whose outcome saw the ruling party, Zanu PF retain the majority in Parliament coupled with its presidential candidate garnering a disputed 50.8% of the vote to earn a fresh five year mandate for the top.
