MARKET COMMENT 02.05.2025

ZSE tumbles in Friday’s session…
The market tumbled in week-ending session as the primary All Share Index trimmed 0.41% to 191.17pts. The ZSE Top Ten Index slipped 0.20% to 185.42pts as ZSE Agriculture Index shed 0.48% to end at 191.03pts. The Mid Cap Index retreated 1.01% to close at 234.95pts. Leading the losers of the day was Star Africa that dipped 46.06% to $0.0200. Following was tea company Tanganda that dropped 14.30% to $0.8570 while, Zimre Holdings Limited tumbled 8.82% to settle at $0.1753. General Beltings gave up 7.95% to $0.1100 while, beverages group Delta pared off 2.99% to end the day at $13.1700. Trading in the positive was telecoms giant Econet that grew 7.91% to $2.9841 as bankers FBC edged up 0.40% to $7.5400. ART gained 0.23% to $0.2215 as CBZ rose a negligible 0.0046% to complete the risers of the day at $7.0003.

Volume of shares traded plummeted 96.67% to 187,400 while, turnover dropped by 98.93% to $209,261. Tea company Tanganda was the top traded counter by volume and value claiming 82.34% of the former and 63.19% of the latter. The other notable value drivers of the day were Econet (12.41%) and CBZ (10.37%). The Cass Saddle ETF plunged 10.00% to close at $0.0900 on scrappy 40 units while, the Datvest MCS traded 8,900 units at a stable price of $0.0300. The Tigere REIT was up 0.87% to $1.1500 on 3.59m units worth $4.13m.
