MARKET COMMENT-28.01.2026

ZSE extends losses in midweek session… 
The ZSE market extended losses in the session as the primary All Share Index lost 0.31% to 358.39pts while, the Blue-Chip Index fell 0.28% to 368.75pts. The Mid Cap Index dropped 0.48% to 329.72pts while, on the contrary the Agriculture Index firmed up 4.15% to 195.10pts. Cigarette producer BAT rebounded from yesterday’s loss as it jumped 15.00% to $111.3415 while, ART advanced 12.82% to $0.0880. Milk processor Dairibord charged 2.79% to close at $1.8500 as TSL firmed up 2.11% to $2.9100. AFDIS capped the top five gainers of the day on a 0.10% uplift to end the day pegged at $9.3105. Tea producer Tanganda led the laggards of the day on a 12.93% dip to $0.6050, followed by Star Africa that dropped 10.83% to $0.0321. TN Cybertech eased 6.36% to settle at $0.1311 while, banking group CBZ declined 3.17% to $13.0721. Zimre Holdings completed the top five shakers of the day on a 2.30% retreat to end the day pegged at $1.1206.  
 
Activity aggregates faltered in the session as volume traded dropped by 54.51% to 1.79m shares while, turnover dipped 50.01% to $4.56m. Top volume drivers of the day were TSL (15.25%), Meikles (11.50%) and SeedCo (8.77%). Econet and Delta were the top traded counters in terms of value after contributing 23.63% and 20.29% respectively. Other notable value drivers of the day were TSL (17.45%), SeedCo (15.88%) and Meikles (13.11%). The MIZ ETF went up 6.67% to settle at $0.0789 while, Datvest ETF inched up 0.25% to end the day pegged at $0.0626. The Tigere REIT tumbled 0.48% to end the day pegged at $1.7914 after 19,000 units exchanged hands in the name.
